2021 Wrap Up

Length Goals:
  • Total Books: 75 (stretch goal of 100) (up from 50/75 last year)
  • Total Pages: 25,000
  • E-TBR Reduction: 25
  • Print-TBR Reduction: 10

Substantive Goals:
  • Read at least 51% non-American authors
  • Read more female/nonbinary authors than male
  • Read at least 52 short stories
  • Read at least 10 books across all our collections that are my wife's or that she wants me to read.

Cumulative Totals Through End of December:
  • Total Books: 75 - 100% of goal, 75% of stretch goal - GOAL MET
  • Total Pages: 24143 - 97% of goal - GOAL FAILED but I was a lot closer than I thought I'd be
  • Gender Goal: 58% Female, 1% Nonbindary, 41% Male - GOAL MET
  • Country of Origin Goal: 42% USA, 58% out of US - GOAL MET
  • E-TBR Reduction: +1 - GOAL FAILED
  • Print TBR Reduction: -48* GOAL FAILED
  • Short Stories: 35, 67% of goal - GOAL FAILED
  • Books Recommended by my wife: 10 - 100% of goal GOAL MET - This is the one I am the most pleased about completing

*My wife continues to buy 1-2 books a week from our local independent bookstore and will do until they are able to fully open again post-covid. I expect this to skew my PTBR list all year long, but its for a good cause.

September was a horrible reading month for me. We closed on the house, took possession, spent a frantic few days painting, and then moved in at the end of the month. Hope to get back on track, but i can see that I might not hit some of my goals.
