Why? Why must people defend their opinion with hard facts but you don't have to?
The people have stated it is a opinion based on their reading of this forums. They haven't sat there and counted the number of posts that say how they frontlight is used. They are stating their gut-feel based on reading a lot of posts here. And I agree with them. Very few actually talk about never using the frontlight. A lot of people have talked about using the frontlight in all ambient light conditions to give the best experience for them. There are also a few threads that have been started asking what light levels are used. Those have always been dominated by comments that people use the light all the time.
But, you seem to be stating that opinion is wrong. And as far as I can tell, you are basing it on a statistic of one: your usage of these devices. If you actually have other reasons for thinking we are wrong, then state them. Even better, point to the statistics that demonstrate that our opinion is wrong.
Of course, if you want real-life statistics, I can find four ereaders used by four different people that have the frontlight on all the time. Exactly how they use it, differs. Two leave it at the same level all the time. For the third, I'm not sure of his light levels. Personally, I adjust it frequently depending in the ambient light.
