When it comes to abandoning books, I hardly ever did when I was young. There usually weren't that many books around, and library trips were few and far between.

Now, when a book isn't working, I sit back and decide why. If I'm just not in the mood, otherwise I might like it, I just set it aside to try again later. Sometimes, I do come back, years later, and enjoy it.

If I don't like the characters, the style is not for me, or it's not well written, then I'll trade/sell/donate a physical copy, or delete it from Calibre and mark it DNF. (I will leave it in my library at Amazon, Kobo, Other. For now.)

Then I just shrug and move on. There may be hundreds of millions of books out that I'll not like, and a million I'll absolutely like, love, or adore. I can't find the millions of good ones, or have time to read, them if I'm plodding through stuff I'm not enjoying.

They're just not worth it.
