Replacing US firmware on a PW2 or 3

Hello everybody,

Thanks for letting me join this community. I am a great fan of ereaders, as I tend to read in different languages and I love the dictionnary features, especially of kindle. Another reason is that I can read in bed without troubling my wife's sleep

I would be very grateful if you could help me with this issue. I inherited (litteraly) and old but working Kindle Paperwhite ref dp75sdi. Unfortunately it is apparently a US model and it will not accept to connect to wifi in Spain, at least that what Amazon support told me.

As a result we cannot use the dictionnary, which is a pity.
Would anyone know how to replace the firmware on the device to turn it into a European Kindle, so that we can make full use of it? It would be silly to get rid if it just for that, and I'd rather not crack it, I am concerned with security.

Great many thanks in advance and happy holiday seasons.

Valdo
