DesertGrandma ... you asked how well my Kindle works in Scotland.
It works fine, except of course I can't use Whispernet. But I've had no difficulty loading it with free books, and I've also managed to buy a book from the Kindle store on Amazon, and transfer it via USB.
I haven't tried subscribing to magazines yet. I'm not sure if that will work without Whispernet. But I'll give it a try and report back.
