Also the real issue is lack of competition. The eink Company was allowed to buy up competitors. A viable alternative was bought up by Amazon and buried.

Partly why the cost of the panels is so high such that a 10" full HD IPS android LCD tablet with more RAM, more flash, SD card slot, mobile Mobile, user SIM, faster CPU, speakers, 2x cameras, 2 x mic, FM radio, WiFi, BT etc is a similar price or cheaper.
