The file chooser follows the same global setting as the file manager. If you enabled hidden files on the file manager you should see them too on any file chooser instance.

Do you see other kind of ui from "GEAR"-> Screen -> Screensaver -> Settings -> Screensaver folder? I don't have at hand a device that supports screensaver ATM
