I went to a college in central Illinois where they served a lunch delicacy called a 'horseshoe'. A horseshoe is a slice of ham on a piece of white bread. On top of that is a large pile of french fries cover with a synthetic cheese sauce. (A slightly smaller version is called a 'ponyshoe'.) It put me off cheese sauce for life.
