It isn't about the book formats. And it isn't just epub and kepub. It is about what is on the database. Sure, I have a very good idea of what is in the database right now. But, there have been far to many changes. I have no real interest in playing catchup with the rest of the data for each book. Overall, the benefit is just not there. Unplugging the device and plugging doesn't actually take much time. And works.
