Partly that epub on a Kobo using the Adobe RMSDK renderer does a better job with font features such as ligatures. Unless I have an ebook with large illustrations that benefit from the kepub renderer being able to zoom them, I use epub. But then, typography has been an interest of mine for decades.

Again, my personal preference. I've seen quite a few posts from people who prefer kepub.
