I am not sure whether this is with 4.30.18838 or 4.29.18730. You have stated you downgraded above, but, I don't know if you are now seeing the error with 4.29.18730 or have tried 4.30.18838 again.

In any case, this suggests something else is going on. As I stated, I have no issues with any of my devices using 4.30.18838 (barring a failed SD card that has been replaced). And I don't remember seeing any other reports suggesting a problem. I think that a failing card, cable or port are more likely than it being a firmware issue.

If you think the cause is calibre, then you can check the database using some other SQLite database management tool before using calibre.
