Try it out, for me it connects paragraphs. You can remove the characters you don't want, e.g. Polish characters.

search: ([[:alpha:],ą,ć,ę,ł,ń,ó,ś,ź,ż,,,;,:,-,–,—,“,”,])</p>\s*<p\b[^>]*>
replace: \1
