That is not evidence that it is risky to carry an e-reader in a pocket. You have also read of multiple people that have carried e-readers in pockets for years without trouble.

On average over 100 people in the US are killed each day in automobile crashes. Are you opposed to people travelling by automobile? Do you ever travel by automobile?
