When footnote includes a link back to the reference, and you get there from pop up footnote, there’s a little left pointing triangle next that back link, so you know what you can tap on (that’s in addition to the Back To link). If there is no pop up footnote, this triangle does not appear, but if you remember the footnote label/number, you can tap on it to return (in addition to the Back to.. link at the bottom left.

I updated mine and it did show up those options
