Every new firmware unless David has time to bump the firmware version supported by Calibre.

Typically it’s safe to do as is suggested in the firmware thread and enable supporting unknown versions since Kobo have generally not changed enough between firmware updates for it to be an issue.

With every firmware update someone, typically David, will mention if it’s indeed safe to do this.

Each new model also needs to be added but there’s nothing the end users can do to make Calibre see a new model as a Kobo. Well short of coding in support but that’s generally beyond most of our abilities.
