there's no need to apologize. i (only) tried calibre Portable Version 5.3.1.1 from here
https://calibre-ebook.com/download_portable on Windows 7 64-bit and it seems to be working fine for me. i don't have Windows 7 32-bit so i can't try that.
i know RobertJSawyer at post (49) as tried the 32-bit calibre Version 4.23 on his Windows 7 32-bit unfortunately without success, therefore i realise that logic probably dictates there's no point him trying the calibre Portable Version 5.31.1 at the link above.
that being said if i only had Windows 7 32-bit i'd still give it a try. after all it's very unlikely to do any harm. it will either work or it won't.
