I cannot say that has ever worked for me.
But apparently there’s a new setup option now, whereby the Kindle app for iOS or Android will share the WiFi setting when nearby. Not sure if you get to choose between 2.4 and 5 GHz.
Before this the easiest way was WPS (if your WAP supports that).
