if the SD card gets corrupted/fails and it can't be replaced without causing damage, then it's sadly going to be bye bye e-reader. personally speaking i wouldn't buy one for what a consider to be a very good reason.

What you say is undoubtedly true. But then I have had that happen zero times.
Also, the same argument is true of most cell phones and many laptops
