chromebook doesn't recognise Kindle

Hi - really sorry but new to site so not sure whether this post is correc t
Running Kindle on chromebook via Linux.
Although the kindle is connected to chromebook as evidenced in folders when I run the debug it identifies that it is not connected (see below)
This is further evidenced that when I try to transfer books to kindle the transfer to main memory etc is greyed out.
