It *allows* you to (fairly) easily override what you want. (Or *all* of it at once, as we do have a "murder embedded style" button, after all ^^).
The defaults are still to honor embedded styling (to the best of CRe's ability), with a fairly small set of non-moronic base styling.

I appreciate the balance in KOReader because editing CSS requires typing, something that is getting increasingly challenging for me. I'm currently trying to teach myself SQL, and even the simplest tutorial examples take me forever because of typos caused by my poor motor skills. So an app like KOReader that lets me use a graphical interface to control how text appears without completely disregarding the CSS and without having to edit it is my ideal.
