No cable issues with any reader I've owned, Nook, Sony, Kobo or Kindle. But it might be because I'm still using the cable I got with my Sony 950 many, many years ago, back in 2011. Sony built good readers AND good cables...

Not a single substrate broken either between 1 Nook, 4 Sonys, 3 Kobos and 4 Kindles.
