Ran a few quick checks, and it seems you're right.
m4a files inside .mp3z, the player sees them, but doesn't play them
straight up m4b or m4bz formats don't show up in the library
but an m4b audiobook converted to mp3 and uploaded as mp3z gets played nicely

Exactly. connected smoothly with my bluetooth headphones. But you have to do it before calling up the file.
So, yes, mp3 playback is nice to have. But it's really nothing new. The sweet thing would be progress tracking across reading modes and devices.
