Based on what you said, writing the image wasn't working. If it had, the books would not be there. The errors suggest a problem with the card. Especially as it worked with the larger card. And using a larger card is a common reason for doing this. You can resize the book partition with the "Resize Partition" option in Magic Memory Upgrade Mod.
