That is one thing I don't miss about living in the midwest. I have vivid memories of sitting in school hallways for what seemed like hours during tornado warnings. One year a tornado took the roof off a neighbouring school (thankfully at night when no one was there), so the school district was very strict about making sure everyone stayed in a safe place for the
entire duration of the tornado warning.
