Do you have WiFi? Just go to the website, click on UsbMode.apk. It will download, then give you a chance to open. Open it. It might say that you need to allow for it to install.
It's simple enough. Poke the screen. Do the coordinates appear? When you're not poking the screen do coordinates appear, possibly flashing on and off?
Do you know how to (or have already) enable "Developer Settings"? You go to Settings > Device Info and click on "Build Number" 7 times. Then you can go to Developer Settings and enable "Show Touches".
Getting ADB working is worth the bit of effort it costs. Google "install minimal ADB".
