they cant be removed, but no one said that you couldnt recess the digitizer, that would increase clarity most of all. you would need one that would fit in the recess though.

but the whole idea is stupid i think, you can get good results on contrast just be using a different font, Like Heltivica, Verdana, or DejaVu Serif.
