Kobos and Overdrive question

I borrowed a trilogy from Overdrive. I used a Tolino for the first book, the Kobo Overdrive app for the second and the Nook Glowlight for the third. (I was basically testing Overdrive, but ended up interested in the books as well.) When I synced my Mini to double "test" the Dictionary (still works!) all three of these books downloaded. Then I looked at the Clara and saw that it had downloaded all three books as well (which, I guess, is why they downloaded to the Mini). So it appears that Kobo's Overdrive app will look into your Overdrive account's loans and download all of them, even if you don't request it do so. Has that been the norm in the past? Seems a little odd.
