A dozen short stories of Paul Beck, a detective who in the early days of the 20th century was as popular as Sherlock Holmes, but the deliberate ordinariness of the detective meant that his star faded by the 1930s. Still good reading. All stories were previously published in "The Royal Magazine" from March 1907 to February 1908.
