This comment, and the demo in this review, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAb64deT1tw, helped me finally understand why I've never noticed any lighting issues on any of my Kobos. I've never taken my brightness past 39%, and it's normally between 25-35%, so that's likely why I've never noticed a problem. That said, after switching to the 4K version of that review, even the infamous band on his Forma looked no worse than the shadow in the spinal valley of actual paper books. My hesitancy re the Sage is fading fast.
