"Very good device, but the non-uniformity of the back light is still a problem! You clearly see a brighter bar towards the buttons side, actually it's not even a bar, it's two groups of LEDs. You can somehow mask it by playing with the warm light and the intensity of the overall back light, but KOBO, for a 300 EUR device, WTF ?

Firstly, I can hardly look at that photo. It looks like they used a pink highlighter on it. That is just to distracting and makes it hard for me to take seriously. I keep wondering what they are reading that they don't want anyone to know about. I suppose it is probably an attempt to not cause copyright issues, but, that wouldn't be a problem for a screenshot like that, and all they had to do was use a different book.
The post reads weird to me. I don't know what the "two groups of LEDs" means. I don't know if they are referring to the two sets of LEDs these devices have, one for white and the other for the colour, or if they are seeing a break in light on the right side. Which I don't see. Or is the reference to "bar" mean they think there should be a single long LED down that side?
It does feel like they have gone out of their way to make it look as bad as possible. The light settings and camera seem to emphasise it. And the pink makes it worse. I want to see it in person. But, the local shop that should stock them doesn't have any yet. Their web site still shows "Pre-order" and all they could say was they didn't have them in yet.
Edit:
I didn't notice the comment on the reddit page under the photo about them exaggerating the lighting until I saw @MGlitch's post. To me, that makes the photo pretty much useless. I have no idea from the photo what it actually looks like. I am sure the poster is seeing something, but, I can't tell how bad it actually is.
