I totally agree Bob. More expensive doesn't always mean better but just as there are examples of when it doesn't mean better there are as many examples of when more expensive does mean better. It's a ying and yang thing.

We have this little T.V. show here in Canada for consumers. It's called "Market Place". The general tenor of the show is to expose fraudulent activities for any number of consumer entry items found in the market place hence the name. A few seasons back they did an expose on appliances marked with the "UL" tag, sticker or embossing and discovered that there are a great many items that were labeled as such did NOT in fact pass muster in terms of it's required quality control or even the listed specifications for said appliance. Basically, have Underwriters Laboratories sticker - will sell. Can this happen with Sony products, sure.

There are plenty of examples of grey market products that are misrepresented as the "real deal" and that pose a danger to consumers. I would rather not see the, as another user here put it, "magic smoke" rise from my Sony PRS-505 just because I purchased a power adapter that may or may not meet the power requirements of unit in question or even meet the input/output specifications listed on the charger itself. That would suck big time.

I agree with most of you when you collectively say that it's a matter of personal choice. It's your investment, it's your decision.

Respect.
