George Romero was often hamstrung by budget and wanted to write a book where the only limit was his imagination. He died and author Daniel Kraus completed the book as Romero intended.
it's a big, sprawling 600 page novel. The reviews... are what they are. I would say the reviews complaining about the book's left-wing politics must not have watched any of Romero's movies.
Other complaints though do sound valid. I haven't yet read the book as I was waiting for this price drop.

Abdulrazak Gurnah, the 2021 recipient of the
Nobel Prize in Literature...or a novel about shambling bodies bumping into each other like bowling pins in search of
brainzzzzzz.
