Sorry but I can't think of a good reason to disable title sort. Just how many books whose titles start with an article (a, an or the) do you want to see sorted together?
BTW, I am assuming you are using English though calibre handles articles in other languages in the same way.
I still have horrible memories of one summer intern at a company I did some consulting for who sorted strictly alphabetical. The T segment of the filing system expanded horrendously when The District of Burnaby, The Municipality of Hope, The South Okanagan School District, The Ministry of Education, etc. etc. were all filed under T for The.
