Solved. Kovid Goyal in person wrote to me on launchpad (take no offense, together with this I reported the problem on the DeDRM project on Github and on bugs.launchpad.net) the following (hope it helps someone in similar situations): The problem is cause dby thefonts embedded in this book. Open it using the Edit book tool, locate the .ttf files in the left panel and delete them, then convert and you will be fine.
