Mine does exactly the same thing. At one point I (inadvertently) did a factory reset and it worked right for a while after that, but then reverted to this behavior. The only real drawbacks are that I can’t use the OverDrive function and if I forget and leave it connected to WiFi after downloading books, it will try to sync until the battery is exhausted. But yeah, I can (and do) live with it.
