If your wifi router supports 5g and it's configured so that both the 2.4g and the 5g use the same SSID, try reconfiguring your router so that it has 2 SSIDs, one for 2.4g and a different one for 5g. That may only be necessary in rare cases. In any event it's probably some configuration thing with your wifi that an old device can't work with.
