My sister, mum and nephew, having driven about 4 hours from my brother's (taking the inland roads to avoid flooding), have got within 10 minutes of home in Cooran before being blocked between the highway and home by flooding. They're now trying to get here instead, but have found most roads flooded, with journos and police and firies fishing fools in drowned cars out of the water (I've directed them up some ridge-top roads to Tewantin, from where they can get here okay). I've walked down to the cake shop to tell my brother-out-law to come up here rather than home, since you can't get to Cooran from here either - it's basically isolated. The rain is still coming down heavy, and worse inland.

The good news is, this close to the coast, and in a place used to heavy, near-tropical rainfall, the floods usually clear pretty quick.
The better news is, the brother-out-law brought cheesecake (I might direct my sister down some more flooded roads, so we can eat it before they get here).
Okay, thunder coming again, and I better go be sociable...
