Thanks for explanation that has helped.

I am 50% there, the earliest book rating was 16mths ago and the earliest book read date is 2015. So Kobo's stored data seems accurate.

Did have a play around and noticed that a lot of the books do not show up as "On Device" in Calibre. I did the match library option in calibre and this works, but then I would have to manually do this for every other book. For most it seems the title is incorrect.

Also tested an empty book in Calibre as you allured to with just the title and author which worked for that particularly book.

Did a bit of a search and I think this cant be done but do you know of a way to be able to download the Kobo metedata and not what is in the epub file to calibre?

I was thinking this may bypass the issue of the incorrect title's etc. for what I am trying to do...?
