FWIW, ApK, the Echos do keep a few things "local" -- reminders, timers, and alarms, at a minimum, because I've had those work even when the internet is down here. But you're right about most integration -- it can't be run locally. A feature I'd like to see is the ability for Alexa to connect to local (Bluetooth, for example) devices and manage them without having to have an active internet connection.
