I hope it would work for you but my recent experiment with dead battery might suggest it won't work. I recently replaced battery in Max2 because it was holding charge only for a few minutes. When I had the tablet open I did experiment to see if it would work without the battery. Having the battery disconnected I applied USB charger. It worked but it was really slow. It might mean that some power management driver slowed it down because couldn't properly initialize the battery charging, but it might also mean that the power from USB is insufficient to run full speed.
