The Void Trilogy's a sequel to his Commonwealth Saga, but you don't need to have read it to enjoy these. They take place about a thousand years later, and most of the major characters from the Commonwealth Saga show up, making it fun for those who read that.
And yeah, they're
very long. They actually split books 2 and 3 of his Nights Dawn trilogy in half when first published in the US. That made for a very weird set of books. They're much better in eBook form,
much easier to hold.
I forget which book now, but when I was still buying used books I ended up with an autographed copy of one of his books. I didn't realize it at first, thinking it was just a printed signature, and going by the pricing the used book store didn't realize it either. It's kind of amazing a signed book showed up in my area since he's not that well known in the US.
