I can only it works here. What the problem is depends on what you actually see. The most likely thing is that the device cannot reach calibre. Whether that is a firewall on the computer running calibre or a firewall between them, I don't know.

Things to check:

Use http://ipadress:8080/mobile instead of your current URL. The one you are using is to a page that will not work with the Kobo browser. The mobile page will. But, that is probably not the problem. With the URL you are using as you should see a loading page with a message about using the non-Javascript version and a link to that. And I would hope that you would have mentioned this if it was happening.

Is this all on a local network? If so, can you access the server from another computer on the network? If not, that suggests there is a firewall on the computer running calibre blocking external access. If it does work, check your router to see if it isolates WiFi connections from each other or the wired part of the network.

If the ereader is not on the same network, you need to make sure routing and firewalls will let the device connect.

Look at the logs in calibre. If the ereader is connecting, but something is going wrong, there might be some indication of what was happening there.

Those are the obvious things. If the problem isn't one of them, then we need more information.
