The last couple of weeks I've been feeling off. I though it was because of my anxiety and because I changed my diet; cutting out most of the sugar I ate/drank and curbing snacking (especially at night). But last weekend I really didn't feel good. I was able to get an appointment with my doctor on Tuesday morning.

After we talked and she took my blood pressure and blood sugar level (both okay) she referred me to have some blood taken and hand in an urine sample, mentioning that it was, amongst other things, to check my thyroid. But that some of the symptoms indicate high stress levels, which isn't strange after the last eight years.

A couple of days ago I talked to my mother and mentioned the thyroid test. She said it wasn't such a bad idea, since both of her siblings have thyroid issues (I knew about my aunt, but not my uncle) and my grandmother on my father's side have/had thyroid problems.

This morning I woke up at 5am, and was wide awake. So I decided to check the symptoms of thyroid problems. Looking at the symptoms I'm now pretty sure I've got hyperthyroidism. It just fits. Some symptoms I've been dealing with low key or off and on for a while. Mostly blaming them on my anxiety (which in itself is a symptom). It's such a relief. Will it suck if I get properly diagnosed, sure. But it's something that can be dealt with. And it's not something I can blame myself for, it's just one of those things you can get. I've booked an appointment for the 22nd, after my vacation, to get some blood taken and to hand in an urine sample, so hopefully within a week after that date I know if it's hyperthyroidism.

That being said, my doctor also booked my an appointment with the practice's psychologist, to help me deal with all the the things that have happened and are still happening over the past eight years.
