I remembered one thing.

When I received the device, I did update (around 1 GB upx file). In this update, they removed "Android brightness slider" from the notification pull-down.

Then before I got edl working, I used SystemApp Remover and got a boot loop. I had to boot with the old unrooted boot.img, do a factory reset, do get the root again.

Could it factory reset to pre-update state? So now so settings are mismatched. This "Android brightness slider" was probably properly removed in the updated packages, but if I have the old ones, they are still looking for it. However, this complaint only appears if I press the round Home button in the notifications.

I shall probably do the update again, then get the root again.
