What would cause Calibre to lose database changes on exit?

Sometime on Friday, I built from source and launched Calibre. I've had it running since then I think.

Today, I closed Calibre in order to pull some new fixes. Upon restarting I found that all the database changes I made since Friday had disappeared (including several new books that were still in the library files).

I don't run on NAS or cloud storage. I checked the database and there were no errors. I'm currently running a restore database from the OPFs in the hopes that it'll put things back.

No changes to my security software; if this month's Windows Update changed anything security-wise, I would have expected I'd see the issue before now.

Also no indications that it's a drive issue, but I'll have to do a proper scan later.
