I'm not familiar with the Sony Reader, please bear that in mind... Please try to read Fictionwise's help pages, too. They can be a bit confusing, some things you might need to read twice I remember it myself.

Here: https://www.fictionwise.com/help/help.htm:
Sony Reader (PRS-500 and PRS-505 will only read unencrypted MultiFormat eBooks from Fictionwise. Use the .lrf format.)

This states that you can not use books with DRM from Fictionwise on your Sony, unless you remove the DRM and convert the book to a format that Sony Reader can recongnise.
HOWEVER - and can someone else answer this? - I thought Sony reader was able to display Secure Adobe Format and Fictionwise is selling books in that format?

Books without DRM, as Fictionwise call them; 'unencrypted', are called "Multiformat", they show up like that when you buy them. After you've bought them, you can download them from your Bookshelf, and for your Reader you should choose the .lrf format.
