Is this expected behaviour or should there at least be whisper sync?
1. That is as expected since the book is now in the more capable KF8 (azw3) format.

2. I found the same to be true. In my testing I found that personal documents created by emailing an azw3 file do not sync reading position or annotations between devices. That appears to be a bug.

3. That is expected. KF8 (azw3) format personal documents do not show a cover thumbnail on e-ink Kindles. They will however show the cover on the lock screen in the latest Kindle firmware (5.13.7).
