I agree with you, however, "WellFormedErrorForSource" does check for a few different elements, and the existence of a DOCTYPE is only one of them. The other checks are very important to me.

So it is enough that the DOCTYPE is missing from one single XHTML file and we will see the message.

I am not persuading anyone, but since I removed the DOCTYPE check a few months ago, I have never seen the message again.
