I hadn't really thought about it. My general impression is that the updates made to JMDict at this point are pretty minor, so it would take a quite a while (probably years?) before updating would make much difference to an end-user. So I don't feel super motivated to do that on any kind of regular schedule.
But I do plan to make other updates to the dictionary. So now that you've mentioned it, I'll try to make sure to update JMDict as well whenever I make other updates, because it certainly doesn't hurt.
Incidentally, do you have any requests for things that would make the dictionary even more useful to you?

Yeah, no worries! I really just make the tools available for people that want to do something custom. I'll always provide the latest standard version of the dictionary itself for download as well.
Part of why I even started this project was that although I found some resources for Kobo J-E dictionaries, they were only ever tools... which never seemed to work. And people never posted the dictionaries themselves for download (I suspect for copyright reasons, because unlike mine I think they used non-freely-licensed source material). It was very frustrating.
My goal is for this dictionary to always be super easy (and legal) for anyone to download and use.
