As per my original post, rebooting the Fire HD 8 and computer, and the statement that there is no SD card installed, didn't help.

When I swipe from the top, all I get is a brightness slide adjustment, my NetGear button, Bluetoogh button, Airplane mode button, Blue Shade button, Auto rotate button, Do Not Disturb button, Lower Power Mode button, and Camera button. There is a symbol at the top right showing strength of my wifi, the date at the top left, my profile, help, and search buttons at the bottom right. No USB notification at all. By the way, the information you sent is all over the first 5 pages. So, what's next?
